An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso has fixed October 3 for judgment in a suit filed by Prince Mohammed Kabir Olaoye to challenge the nomination of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye by the kingmakers as Soun of Ogbomoso.

Recalled that the Soun of Ogbomoso stool became vacant as a result of the transition of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi on 12 December, 2021.

Justice A.K. Adedokun, fixed the date on Tuesday.

The judgment day was fixed after Olaoye’s counsel, Oladapo Atanda, and Kolawole Fatoye, who represented Ghandi and the kingmakers, adopted their processes and presented their arguments for and against the suit marked HOG/27/2022 and filed in July 2022.

He asked that the court, among other reliefs, to set aside the nomination and to order a fresh process.

The defendants in the case include the Oyo State governor, Attorney General in the state, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ogbomoso North Local Government, Ogbomoso North Traditional Council and Prince Amos Olawole Olaoye (Mogaji Olaoye ruling house) who are 1st to 6th defendants respectively.

The 7th to 11th defendants are the kingmakers led by Chief S.O. Otolorin (Areago of Ogbomoso and chairman), Chief Salawu Ajadi (Jagun), Chief Tijani Abioye (Bara), Cheif David Adeniran Ojo (Ikolaba) and Chief Yusuf Kasali Oladipupo (Abese) while Prince Ghandi Olaoye, the Soun nominee, is the 12th defendant.
