Nigerian award-winning singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has unfollowed his logistics manager, isreal dmw, on Instagram. This move comes shortly after Israel DMW issued a public apology to the Muslim community on behalf of the singer.
The root of the controversy traces back to last Friday when Davido shared a music video on his Twitter page to promote his music artiste, logos olori. The video for the song ‘Jaye Lo’ depicted scenes of individuals praying and dancing in a structure resembling a mosque. This portrayal was met with significant backlash from some members of the Muslim community, who perceived it as a sign of disrespect to their religion.
While Davido promptly removed the contentious video from his platform, the outcry did not subside. Many from the Muslim community continued to demand a formal public apology from the renowned singer.
In an attempt to quell the rising tensions, Israel DMW took the initiative to address the situation. Through his Instagram story, he extended an apology to the Muslim community on Davido’s behalf. Israel emphasized that the ‘Jaye Lo’ clip was purely for entertainment and regretted its misrepresentation.
His message read, “Let me specially apologise to my Muslims brothers and sisters, on the video my oga posted, as a result of him wanting to lift up somebody, which is one of his hubbies. It was purely an entertainment effort wrongly presented. Make una no vex. Love you all.”
However, in a move that has left many speculating, a recent examination of Davido’s Instagram profile revealed that he has ceased following Israel DMW. This has led to widespread speculation about the state of their relationship and the implications of the video controversy on their professional ties.
As of now, Davido has not issued any personal statement or apology regarding the matter, even after the removal of the video. The music community and fans await further developments, hoping for clarity on the situation and its impact on the relationships within the DMW camp.
