The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi on Thursday directed community Masjid Imams to offer special prayers for rains on Friday.
This is due to the absence of rain fall in Borno State for a long time.
A tweet by NTA News on Thursday said: “Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi directs Friday prayer and community Masjid Imams to offer special prayers for rains.”
He also directed the District District, village and Ward Heads statewide on mobilisation to support the needy and checking immorality and social vices in the society.
Borno, geographically, is divided between the semi-desert Sahelian savanna in the north and the West Sudanian savanna in the centre and south with a part of the montane Mandara Plateau in the southeast.
It is located in an arid zone where rain rarely falls. The state has been experiencing draught for many parts of this year
