VAM News Update

OSUN: Communities of Olodo, Irepodun, Gidigbi and Oloja-Ibala in Osogbo have called on the Osun state government, led by Excellency Ademola Adeleke to please attend to their plight concerning the bad condition of their road and blackout.

Speaking to VAM News on a fact finding visit to the area, Dr Peter Awofadeju said the communities have made similar call on the governor on these two unique challenges, but unproductive.

He said they will be glad if the challenges can be attended to before the year 2023 runs out.

This road links Osogbo local government with Atakumosa west local government in the state, it serves as bye-pass for travellers when there is traffic within the towns for motorists coming from Ilesa, Osu or travelling from Osogbo to any related towns.

“Secondly, these towns have farm settlement which the state of the road will cause set back to the farmers and vehicle owners in and around the communities.”

The communities are appreciating the state government for the bridge constructed, while pleading for drainages and proper construction of the road to be made.

“The second challenge is blackout for more than thirteen years in these Communities. We need transformers, electric poles and wires to illuminate the whole Communities. Though staff members from the ministry of Rural Development and Community Affairs have come for inspection on the issue of light, yet we are pleading that it should not end on inspection, but to help restore the light.” The community leader said.

Communities dwellers were hearing testimonies from other towns within the state over restoration of light and road constructed by the state government within the short time Governor Ademola Adeleke came, they expected to have similar testimonies over there present two challenges.
