So-Safe Corps arrests robbery gang leader, recovers ammunition in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Social Orientation and Safety, So-Safe Corps, have arrested an armed robbery gang leader, Obani Desmond, and recovered four rifles from him.

 

 

 

The state Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, through the corps Public Relations Officer, Moruf Yusuf.

 

 

 

Ganzallo disclosed that Desmond, 32, was arrested on Wednesday after many attempts to catch him had failed.

 

 

 

According to him, the suspect had escaped arrest on several occasions, however, nemesis caught up with him.

 

 

 

He added that the information gathered revealed his location before his eventual arrest.

 

 

 

The statement reads partly “At about 10:am on Wednesday, 12th July 2023, the Officers of the Corps on routine patrol while acting on information gathered, caught a 32-year-old Mr Obani Desmond, who is a resident of 25, Agunbiade Street, Orija, Abule Iroko while trying to break into a building at 2, Ayo Ogunbanwo Street, Abule-Iroko in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area.

 

 

 

“The suspect had escaped arrest on several occasions but nemesis caught up with him on the day as he tried to hide from being caught at the scene of the robbery.”

 

 

 

According to him, Desmond confessed to his crime and promised to reveal where he kept the arms he used for the operation.

 

 

 

He added “When the suspect saw that the scene at which he was caught might be the end of the road, he speedily confessed that this fateful day, he came to steal gold jewellery in that compound, the reason for him not carrying arms.

 

 

 

“Without torture, he promised to show the team where he kept the arms he uses to perpetrate the crimes he is known for.”

 

 

 

The statement added that the suspect confessed to being involved in deadly attacks in Ogun and Lagos states.

 

 

 

The statement further read “The suspect confessed to have taken part in a number of deadly attacks both in Ogun and in Lagos States and he pleaded that the Corps would get the remaining useful story of their successful attacks from one Mr Jeje, whom he said he is in possession of the AK47 for his team use.”
