Newly Elected Federal Lawmaker Sent Out Of Chamber For Improper Dressing

Drama ensued at the House of Representatives on Wednesday, July 12, when a member was walked out from the chamber for being “improperly dressed”.

VAM reports that the lawmaker, whose identity could not be ascertained because he is one of the newly elected members, was dressed in a red t-shirt and brown trousers.

He was said to have walked in and taken his seat at the upper gallery of the temporary chamber of the House when the plenary session was coming to its close.

However, a short while after the lawmaker took his seat, one of his colleagues, Billy Osaweru, raised a point of order, drawing the attention of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to the lawmaker’s improper dressing.

Osaweru noted that the lawmaker’s outfit contravened the House dressing code.

Immediately Abbas’ attention was drawn to the member’s improper dressing, and the lawmaker in question was sent out of the green chamber.
