International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking: Imole Foundation, Trauma of the Dreadlocked Publishers, Osogbo Window On America Join other CSOs, Stakeholders in the Campaign Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking

Imole Foundation, Trauma of the Dreadlocked Publishers, Osogbo Window On America, has called on Nigerians to avoid drug abuse, and illicit trafficking for the nation to achieve a better society.

In a program held on Monday, June 26th at a workshop in Osogbo, Osun state to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking 2023.

While delivering his speech, the Chairman Imole foundation, Amb. Babatunde Adeolu Kehinde, stated that this year theme; “Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention and Rehabilitation” is a powerful reminder of the multifaceted challenges we face in combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking, not just here in Osun but across the country.

He further revealed that this workshop, aim to provide a platform for knowledge sharing, dialogue, and collaboration. We have brought together experts, community leaders, government officials, and individuals from various backgrounds who share a common goal: to create a society that is free from the scourge of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Together, we will explore innovative strategies, exchange ideas, and develop actionable plans to address this pressing issue. It won’t be ‘all work and no play’- we’ll be entertained as well by amazing performers.

Amb. Babatunde urged member of the public to engage in meaningful conversations, challenge existing norms, and identify practical solutions that can be implemented at the grassroots level in various communities across our dear Osun State.

“Together, we can make a difference in the lives of individuals battling addiction, their families, and our communities as a whole

“Let us seize this opportunity to strengthen our resolve, deepen our understanding, and unite our efforts in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking

“Imole Foundation, as an NGO dedicated to grassroots concerns and development, recognizes the profound impact drug abuse and illicit trafficking has on our communities. Our collective efforts should be aimed at fostering understanding, compassion, and support for those affected, empowering them to reintegrate into society and lead fulfilling lives,” Mr Babatunde said.

Mr Olalere Fagbola, while delivering his lecture, Noted that “if you don’t have any reasons to wear dreadlock… You have abuse dreadlock”; message titled Dreadlock: An addiction worse than Heroin and cocaine.

He talked about abuse of drug and drug addiction, “If you do not have moderation you will run into addiction and anything that is not measure will become addiction.

“When we abuse fashion, we look at dreadlocks as fashion statement for a purpose… Modality doesn’t cancel spirituality

“It’s however a matter of regret today how too many Youths are paying lip service to Ori(Head) through the way they are desecrating the sanctity of their heads,” He said.

Similarly, Miracle Blind Artist, Adebayo Muritala Akanbi David (Amad) aka Ability in Disability showcased his skills and advise people not to engage in drug abuse and encourage those are addicted to pray and work in overcoming it.

Mickey Alaafia La Fe spice up the event with his song, “Peace” and shared his experience on drug abuse and urged the youth and others not to allow peer group, friend and family situation to push them into drug abuse.

Mickey Alaafia La Fe encouraged addicted drug abuser to strong come out of the bad situation, because it will lead to death, destruction and Everlasting sorrow.

Osogbo Window On America, an initiative of the Public Affairs section of United State U.S.Consulate, Lagos, Nigeria, has been operating in the premises provided by the UNIOSUN Teaching hospital.

Hundreds of scholars including youths have thus been having free access to e-learning, e-library under the Consulate’s Massive Open Online Course MOOC programs which have been enhancing their career skills with many users and visitors to the place being exposed to different job opportunities there-from.
