President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, as well as the retirement of Advisers and the Comptroller-General of Customs. This decision was conveyed through a statement issued by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The statement further revealed the names of the newly appointed officers who will assume their respective positions with immediate effect.
The appointments are as follows:
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu – National Security Adviser
Maj. Gen. C.G Musa – Chief of Defence Staff
Maj. T. A Lagbaja – Chief of Army Staff
Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla – Chief of Naval Staff
AVM H.B Abubakar – Chief of Air Staff
DIG Kayode Egbetokun – Acting Inspector-General of Police
Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye – Chief of Defense Intelligence
Additionally, President Tinubu has approved several other appointments, including those of military officers in the Presidential Villa. The list of appointments includes brigade commanders, battalion commanders, and officers in various capacities.
Furthermore, the President has appointed two special advisers and two senior assistants. The special advisers are Hadiza Bala Usman, who will serve as Special Adviser for Policy Coordination, and Hannatu Musa Musawa, appointed as the Special Adviser for Culture and Entertainment Economy. Sen. Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel has been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant for National Assembly Matters (Senate), while Hon. (Barr) Olarewaju Kunle Ibrahim will serve as the Senior Special Assistant for National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
Lastly, President Tinubu has appointed Adeniyi Bashir Adewale as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs.
It is important to note that the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Comptroller General of Customs will act in their respective positions pending confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This development signifies a significant reshuffling within the country’s security and administrative apparatus, as President Tinubu takes steps to shape his administration and address various challenges facing the nation.
