UPDATED: No One Can Confirm If He’s A ‘Yahoo Boy’ – Ondo Police Give Ordeal On Akure Accident

THE Ondo State Police Command have given an update on the accident along Ijoka road in Akure, the State capital.

The accident which happened on Monday morning was earlier reported to have been caused by a young man, whom the people believed was an Internet fraudster (Yahoo boy).

Confirming the accident, the police public relations officer (PPRO), Funmi Odunlami Omisanya, said the force and no one can confirm the boy who drove the car is a Yahoo boy.

According to her, the case was an accident which led to the death of a motorcyclist. She added that the young man, 35, was subsequently killed by the mob who perceived him as a fraudster.

The PPRO added that the parents of the boy who came to scene of the incident were almost killed, save for the intervention of the police.

“No one can confirm if the young man in question is an internet fraudster, there was an accident that led to the death of a motorcyclist.

“Rather than people around to help, some resolved to Jungle Justice by killing the young man, OlorunFemi Tope aged 35 who drove the vehicle and set the car ablaze. But for the quick intervention of the police, his parents too would have been killed.

“In all two people confirm dead while six others involved and injured in the accident are currently in the hospital,” she said.
