100 days in office: Adeleke Commissions Water Projects in Oba Oke, Oba Ile, Other Communities

•We’re committed to infrastructure development of communities in Osun – CSDA GM, Abokede

THE Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke’s 100 days in office has reiterated his commitment in ensuring sustainable, significantly community economic growth and reduction in poverty.

Adeleke’s statement again was fulfilled as the state government commissioned four boreholes in Oba Oke, Oba Ile Community, in Olorunda North LGA of Osun State.

Represented at the event was Prince Kola Adewusi, The Deputy Governor on Thursday, stated that the water project was one of the challenges sighted during their electioneering campaign and this is a fulfilment of the campaign promises.

Voice Air Media Reports that the projects were executed by the Osun State Government through Osun State Community and Social Development Agency (OSUN CSDA) under the Osun COVID 19- Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Program (Os CARES), a World Bank intervention programme.

The Deputy Governor stated “Communities as well as individuals needs water to stay physically healthy and prevent diseases caused by lack of clean, portable and drinkable water”.

Adewusi said it was also an intervention area of Osun COVID – 19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (Osun CARES) under (Osun CSDA).

“When water supplies are improved and sustainable, it is significantly
community economic growth and reduces poverty. Women who often spend hours every day searching for water which inhibits women from working to generate livelihood as well as reducing children’s time for education can start using their time for productive ventures, as clean, portable and drinkable water is now within their reach” , he explained.

“God in his wisdom brought us into enhances governance to see to such challenges of the people of Osun State and proffer demonstrate in actions. Our intervention are evidence based. A typical example of what is happening here to enablement’, he reiterated.

However, he urged the beneficiaries to maintain and sustain the project for maximum impacts. He also appreciated Federal Government and the World Bank for their interventions in Osun States.

The commission event was graced by other stakeholders in the State, The Oloba of Oba Oke, Oba Yusuf Bamidele, elated residents of the communities.

Addressing the elated Community, at the commissioning, the General Manager of Osun CSDA, Aderonke Funmi Abokede, disclosed that Water supply was crucial for socio-economic development. Its availability in sufficient quality and quantity is a good step to poverty reduction.

She applauded the Governor for improving the quality of life of Osun citizens, adding that this was one of the development Agenda infrastructure development; hence the provision of boreholes was an intervention to accelerate access to potable water.

The General Manager stated that “there is Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) in order to ensure proper use of the water and ensure maintenance of the boreholes that we
expect will continue to provide adequate amount of safe water through all seasons of the year”.

“Therefore, these water facilities should be sustainably maintained so as to provide long term services to the people living in these communities” , she added.

“Access to potable water will ensure reduction in the incidences of water borne diseases, while sanitation and personal hygiene will be improved and income generation will be enhanced thereby bringing about general positive changes in the overall socio-economic wellbeing of the people of the communities to ensure their functionalities at all times”, she explained.

Rendering his vote of thanks to the State Government and Osun CSDA, the President of Oba Oke Development Union, Pastor Remi Abiodun, appreciated the administration for the development brought to their homes.

However, Abiodun also took the note to inform the Government of the needs in the communities.

” Your Excellency, we are very grateful for the water projects this will help ease waterborne diseases in the community and provide good water supply to the people”.

” Moreso, we also have abandoned projects in the communities, we implore your administration to help us rehabilitate them for the development of the State”, he concluded.

Recall that on Wednesday, the state government commissioned rehabilitated 2 blocks of 8 classroom and reticulated borehole water at Dagbolu Community Primary School Olorunda Local Government Areas, Osun.

Rendering his vote of thanks to the State Government and Osun CSDA, on Thursday, the President of Oba Oke Development Union, Pastor Remi Abiodun, appreciated the administration for the development brought to their homes.

However, Abiodun also took the note to inform the Government of the needs in the communities.

The ultra-modern toilet projects built for a school was also commissioned at Oba Ile, under the Olorunda North LGA.
