THE Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Osun Sector Command has disclosed that a sum of N27, 171, 400 and N21, 900 was recovered from the victims of the fatal multiple car crash that claimed six lives on Tuesday morning.
According to crash report made available to newsmen by Agnes Ogungbemi, the Osun FRSC Sector Public Education Officer, the N27,171,400 was handed over to the relatives of the victims, while the N21, 900 belonging to the driver was handed over to the Nigeria Police, Ijebu-Ijesa Division.
According to DailyPost report, the fatal multiple car crash claimed six lives on Tuesday morning at Iwaraja Junction, was a result of a head on collision.
The collision involved a red Toyota Sienna with registration number KTU896HX and green coloured Zafira Opel with number GBA440XA which were travelling in opposite directions on the Ipetu-Ilesa axis of the Ilesa-Akure expressway.
“The accident involved 11 males and 3 females. Six males lost their lives, while seven others sustained severe injuries and only one person was unhurt.
“The injured victims were taken to Wesley hospital Ilesa while bodies were deposited at the same hospital morgue.
“N21,900 that belongs to the driver who drove GBA440XA OPEL ZAFIRA was handed over to the Nigeria Police Ijebu Ijesa. The Nigeria Police towed the vehicles to their station.
“The sum of twenty seven million one hundred and seventy one thousand, four hundred Naira (N27,171,400) only was recovered and handed over to the victims’ family members,” she disclosed.
Meanwhile, Bamidele Ayanwale, the Ipetu-Ijesa Unit Commander advised motorists plying the Ipetu-Ijesa highway to always be safety conscious in order to avoid loss of lives and property.
