Report: Large turnout of voters in Abiodun, Adebutu’s town in Ogun

Voters turned out in large numbers for the governorship and house of assembly elections in Iperu-Remo, the hometown of the candidates for governor from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.

According to Nigerian Tribune who went around some of the polling units in the town stated that eligible electorates were spotted in queues to complete their civic duty.

When visited Unit 4 Ward 5 and Unit 11 Wars 5, which are both located on the grounds of Wesley Nursery and Primary School in Iperu, the exercise was going smoothly.

Security personnel attached to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Police and the Department of Security Services were on the ground to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

At Ajura Ward 4 Unit 3 in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the State, voters conduct themselves in an orderly manner.

It was observed that the Biomodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was malfunctioning, as it only captured only two voters at 9.30 am when the Nigerian Tribune visited the polling unit.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, David Ojelabi, was on the ground with his personnel to speak with our correspondent, commending the voters for conducting themselves in an orderly manner.

He said that the exercise had been peaceful so far with reports received across the length and breadth of the State.

The NSCDC commandant urged the people to come out and perform their civic responsibility by voting according to their conscience.

They were prevented from travelling because they defied the order of the Inspector General of Police, IG Aikali Baba, on the restriction of movement.

Some of the travellers expressed displeasure over the action of the military personnel.

Meanwhile, there was a heavy security presence in Abeokuta, and major highways in the state, unlike what it obtained in the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
