United Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak has congratulated Nigeria’s president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his election as the next president of the nation.
Sunak, in a tweet, said the UK-Nigeria relationship would remain strong even when Tinubu comes into power.
He stated that he looked forward to working together with Nigeria to grow security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both countries.
Sunak wrote: “Congratulations to @officialABAT on his victory in Nigeria. The UK-Nigeria relationship remains strong. I look forward to working together to grow our security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both our countries.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Wednesday declared Tinubu winner of the 2023 presidential election held last Saturday.
INEC’s Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu declared Tinubu winner of the election early Wednesday, having satisfied the conditions of the electoral act.
In the declared result, Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
Atiku scored 6,984,520 votes to come second, while Obi came third, garnering 6,101,533 votes to come third.
Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) got 1,496,687 votes to come fourth in the presidential election. CONTINUE READING………………………………..
