Peter Obi’s supporters attacked as LP campaign across Lagos

Voice Air Media News Update

Nigeria has been grappling with issues of political violence and thuggery for many years, and the recent attack on supporters of the Labour Party in Lagos is just one of the latest examples of this disturbing trend.

This incident took place in Jakande, Lagos, on a Saturday, and was carried out by individuals believed to be working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Labour Party is one of Nigeria’s main opposition political parties, and has been gaining in popularity in recent months.

The party is known for its strong stance on social justice issues, and has been attracting a growing number of supporters.

However, this growing popularity has also attracted the attention of the ruling APC, who have been accused of using violence and intimidation to suppress opposition voices.

The attack on Peter Obi’s supporters was carried out with brutal force, and a number of people suffered serious injuries.

According to eyewitness accounts, a number of supporters of the party, known as “Obidients,” were violently attacked, with several suffering injuries and having their phones smashed.

This attack has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of political opposition in Nigeria, and has sparked a heated debate about the role of political violence in the country’s political landscape.

One of the victims of the attack, who posted a video on Twitter under @BishopPOEvang, showed bruises on his body and claimed that he was attacked by APC thugs.

In the video, the victim says, “Good morning everyone. I was attacked by the APC thugs at Jakande here. A lot of us were attacked. My phone got smashed. You can see the injuries on my hands and all parts of my body. It’s a mess. We just have to run for our lives.”

The Nigerian police have responded to the attack, and the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the Jakande Ward Chairman of the Labour Party had reported the attack on party members at the Ilasan Division.

Four injured individuals have received medical attention, and preliminary investigations have been initiated by the Ilasan Division Police Officer, with the State Criminal Investigation Department set to fully take over the case.

This attack on Peter Obi’s supporters raises serious questions about the level of political violence in Nigeria, and the ability of the country’s law enforcement agencies to protect political opposition.

In the lead up to the country’s next national elections, it is important that the Nigerian government takes decisive action to ensure the safety and security of all political opposition groups, and to prevent political violence from becoming a feature of the country’s electoral process.

Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city and economic hub, has a long history of political violence and thuggery, and this latest incident is just one of many that have taken place in recent years. The city is also home to a large number of political opposition groups, and is seen as a key battleground in the country’s upcoming elections.

In order to ensure a fair and democratic election, it is crucial that the Nigerian government takes steps to protect political opposition, and to prevent political violence from becoming a feature of the country’s electoral process.
