Scarcity of naira notes: Sowore tackles Peter Obi

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of African Action Alliance, AAA in Nigeria’s February 25 election has slammed his Labour Party’s counterpart, Peter Obi for supporting the naira redesign policy of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

Sowore, against the hardship being experienced by Nigerians in getting the new naira notes, had called for sack of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

The publisher of SaharaReporters had faulted the claims given by the CBN for redesign of the naira notes. He noted that the claim that the redesign of the currency will stop payment of ransom to kidnappers is not true, noting that kidnappers demand for ransom in foreign currencies.

He also noted that the claim that the redesign of the naira notes is not true as some Nigerian dignitaries spend foreign currencies.

But on the contrary, Obi had declared support for the naira redesign policy, while asking Nigerians to endure the difficulties being experienced in getting the new notes for their daily transactions.

The LP presidential candidate who spoke through his official Twitter account said, “It is an exercise that comes with some inconvenience and pain but it has significant long-term economic and social benefits. Even though there are improvements that can be made.”

He also asked the CBN to step up efforts to make the redesigned currency available to small depositors, saying the “availability of the new notes will help reduce the pains of the unbanked, “especially the underprivileged and those living far away from banks in the rural areas.”

But Sowore said the support of the LP presidential candidate for the policy was because he thinks it will help him to win the presidential election.

Sowore, tweeting from his verfified account said, “This what we keep telling Nigerians about Mr. Peter Obi, this is the candidate of “owners” of Nigeria, an opportunist presented to distract Nigerians from truest liberation so that they can remain in the shackles of oppression and perpetually in bondage.

“At the end, he is the same as his mentors!

“He actually believes that a Naira redesign policy causing havoc on hapless Nigerians will help him “win” election on February 25th 2023?” CONTINUE READING………………………………
