Many trapped as shopping mall collapses in Abuja

VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

Seven persons have been rescued from rubbles of a collapsed three-storey building under construction in Abuja.

Ikharo Attah, the senior special assistant to the FCT minister on monitoring, inspection, and enforcement, confirmed the development to TheCable on Thursday.

Attah said many are still feared trapped under the rubble of the building suspected to be a shopping mall in the 7th avenue in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja while seven were rescued.

“As of 2: 41pm on Thursday, we have rescued seven persons. Out of the seven, five looked stable while two have been taken to the hospital due to their unstable condition,” Attah said.

“So many of them are still there. Many of them are still calling their relatives under the rubble.”

Some eyewitnesses said over 30 to 70 persons were still trapped as they could hear their voices calling for help.
