Lagos trader Orogun reportedly accused of defiling girl remanded

The Police at the Ebute-Ero Division, Idumota, Lagos Island have arrested a 23-year-old trader, Bukola Orogun and charged him before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old girl.

 

 

 

He was said to have carried out the act inside a shop at the Abibat Mogaji Plaza, Ebute-Ero Market, Idumota, Lagos Island, Lagos.

 

 

 

According to the police, in the process, the accused tore the private parts of the victim with blood gushing out.

 

 

 

The police added that the incident became public knowledge when the parents of the victim noticed blood stains on her daughter’s clothes and questioned her.

 

 

 

The little girl allegedly told her mother that a man forcefully had sex with her inside a shop at the Mogaji Plaza, Ebute-Ero Market, Idumota, Lagos.

 

 

 

The mother, according to the police, took her daughter and the blood-stained clothes to the Ebute-Ero Police Division and reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of the Division, CSP Ademola Oyunyamoju who swiftly deployed his men to the market to arrest the randy trader.

 

 

 

Narrating the incident to the police, the victim who claimed to be a virgin at the time and a student stated: “I was sent on that fateful day by my aunt to help her drop load at the Habibat Mogaji Plaza, Ebute-Ero market at about 6.30pm and after I dropped the load and on my way out, someone forcefully dragged me from behind and rushed me inside a shop at the Plaza and immediately covered my face and mouth with cloth and forcefully had sex with me, and in the process, blood started gushing out from my private parts profusely.

 

 

 

“When the man saw that blood was gushing out from my private part, he warned me not to tell anyone and that if I told anyone or even my parents, he would kill me.

 

 

 

“I tried to hide the blood that was still running out from my private parts from my mother because I have not done such a thing in my life before and the fear of being killed by the man, but it was not possible as my mother still noticed the blood stains.”

 

 

 

The defendant, from Ondo State, was charged before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island on one count charge of defilement.

 

 

 

Police Prosecuting Counsel, Koti Aodohemba told the court that the defendant forcefully had sex with the underaged inside a shop at the Habibat Mogaji Plaza, Ebute-Ero Market when she was sent by her aunt to drop a load for her at the Plaza.

 

 

He said the offence the defendant committed was punishable under session 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

 

 

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, but Magistrate A.T Omoyele ordered that the defendant be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till the advice of the case file comes out from the Department of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case.
