Rtd Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, the State Commander of Amotekun Corps in Osun, on Thursday said his operatives arrested a security guard for allegedly stealing a motorcycle at Kelebe Area of Osogbo.
Adewinmbi, while speaking with journalists in Osogbo, stated that the suspect, one Adebowale, 25, was arrested after stealing a TVS motorcycle at Aratumi Community Kelebe Area of Osogbo.
He stated that it was in the course of carting away the motorcycle that the men of Amotekun, who were on routine patrol, saw him and apprehended him.
“The suspect was arrested on Wednesday after he was spotted with the motorcycle at around 1.00 a.m, during a routine patrol by men of the Amotekun Corps.” he said
He said upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and that the suspect had been transferred to the police for further investigations and prosecution.
Adewinmbi warned criminal minded individuals to stay away from Osun, adding that the long arms of the law will always catch up with criminals.
“The Amotekun Corps does not take issues or anything that has to do with security of lives and property of people lightly.
“We work and scrutinise received information, that concerns security, to ascertain whether it is genuine or not.
“We are working with other security agencies to curb crime and criminality in Osun and Amotekun is ever ready to apprehend, exposed and flush out criminals from their hiding places.” Adewinmbi said.
He urged residents to always report criminals in their neighborhoods to the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies so as to curb crime in the state and society in totality.
