The Ward Supervisor, Ifelodun Health Centre, Ife East Local Government Area of Osun, Mrs Olanike Awoyefa, said the council had vaccinated 10,500 children against polio.
Awoyefa made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, on Wednesday, in Ile-Ife.
She said the oral polio vaccine, the second phase this year, was administered to children under five years to prevent them from the disease.
According to her, the government will continue to put in place measures to prevent the virus.
Awoyefa explained that the exercise commenced from December 16 to December 19, covering Akogun, Apata 11, 111, Asikolaye, Ajidara, Owoeye, Oyebanji, Ifedebi, Safejo, Alajobi, Lakaye areas.
She, however, commended mothers for supporting the exercise and allowing their children to be vaccinated.
She equally lauded the state government’s commitment towards the elimination of polio in the state. CONTINUE READING……………………………………..
