Lagos: Septuagenarian sent to Kirikiri Prison for defiling 5-year-old girl

A 73-year-old man, Dukuye Ohwofete has been arraigned at the Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court, Lagos for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.

It was alleged that the Septuagenarian was caught in action when a neighbour, who has been suspecting him before the incident, recorded him while he was perpetrating the act.

The mother of the child has been separated from the father six months ago and that she alongside the child visited the alleged perpetrator, who is a family friend on the 14th of December, 2022.

The Ohwofete was said to have asked the mother of the minor to get food stuff for him and left the 5-year-old girl in the house with him.

According to the mother, on getting back to the house, she was shown a video of her daughter being defiled by the suspect.

The mother also claimed her daughter complained about feeling pain on her private part four months ago but that she thought it was an infection.

The 73-year-old man has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Center, pending the Directorate of Public Prosecution’s legal advice.

Executive Secretary, Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi has reiterated the state’s zero tolerance to all forms of child abuse, insisting that perpetrators would be prosecuted in the event of these crimes.

Vivour-Adeniyi reassured all Lagos State residents of the commitment of the governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu’s administration in upholding the tenets of safeguarding child protection.
