Ondo fixes council polls for 2023

Ondo Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has released the time table for local government elections in the State.

It said the local polls would hold on December 16, 2023.

Chairman of the Commission, Prof Yomi Dinakin, who disclosed this at a briefing in Akure, said the release of the time table was in line with Section 28 (1) of the Electoral Act, 2022.

Dinakin stated that the announcement was to avoid litigation.

Dinakin said conduct of party primaries by political parties would be between April 10th to June 10th, 2023 while campaigns would begin on July 17th and and ends midnight of December 14th 2023.

He said the body would meet with stakeholders for release of the election guidelines.

“ODIEC will continue to ensure that local government elections are conducted in credible and acceptable manner.

The ODIEC Commissioner in Charge of Training and Legal, Prof Tajudeen Ibrahim said training of Adhoc staff would hold between November 23 to December 1st, 2023.
