Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers at about 8pm on Monday evening reportedly abducted a woman at road 10 junction,Akwaka phase 2, in Rumuodomaya area of Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
An eyewitness told our correspondent on condition of anonymity that the gunmen may have trailed her and her driver from Ruby Centre road Off Airport road to Road 10 where her vehicle was intercepted.
The eyewitness said attempt by the driver to out maneuver the suspected kidnappers failed as her Lexus SUV plunged into a gutter.
The woman was subsequently dragged out of her vehicle while the gunmen shoot sporadically to scare people away.
Her driver, residents and others around the area scampered for safety in the ensuing commotion, it was learnt.
She said the woman’s vehicle, which was abandoned by the gunmen has been removed as at this morning.
Meanwhile, residents of the area has called on the state Commissioner of Police to deploy officers of the Command’s anti-kidnapping unit to patrol the area.
CP Effiong Okon had recently gave criminal in Rivers 10 days to submit their guns.
