LP Chieftain Attacked by Suspected Political Thugs In Osun

… beat members to stupor, as party’s chair calls for justice

Residents of communities in Atakunmosa East Local Government Area of Osun State and its environs have been thrown into a state of fear as hoodlums suspected to be loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, went on rampage.

The PDP thugs reportedly attacked a Chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Rabiu Ismaila, and other members of the party who were pasting posters of their party’s candidate within the Council.

Ismaila was beaten to stupor and stabbed for unknown offence by the overzealous miscreants while other party loyalists sustained various degrees of injury in the hands of the political hooligans.

It was reported that some members of the party in Owode, Igangan and Olopon communities in Ijeshaland have repeatedly cried out over incessant attacks on them by political thugs. They claimed that they have been attacked more than three times within a week.

Speaking at the medical facility where he is receiving treatment, one of the victims, Ismaila, said; “as you can see, I am still receiving treatment at Wesley Guild hospital, Ilesa after I was macheted by PDP political thugs. The thugs are from Iwara.

“I was attacked on November 30th by six of those thugs. I was attacked because I pasted the posters of Labour Party House of Representatives candidate, Kunle Gideon, popularly known as Aloba. That is my only offence. We are living in fear in that area.”

Similarly, another victim revealed that same hoodlums who attacked Ismaila came to attack other members of the party, late Thursday around 11 pm at Olopon Ajegunle village.

In his words, “They came to my house; forced their way inside and started destroying my property. Thank God we were able to escape. One of the persons that came to attack us is Tayo, notoriously known as Ijoba. The policemen in our area are not capable of handling these guys.”

Reacting to the attacks, the State Chairman of Labour Party, Comrade Bello Adebayo, urged the Commissioner of Police, Faleye Olaleye, to arrest, prosecute and bring all the attackers to justice. (Source: Nationnewslead)
