Ex-UI Deputy VC Kidnapped, Abductors Demand Ransom

Professor Adigun Agbaje, a former deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the University of Ibadan, has been kidnapped.

It was gathered that Adigun’s kidnappers have made contact with his family and are demanding N50 million as a ransom for his release.

As reported by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, Prof. Agbaje, is currently on sabbatical at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, and was abducted while on his way to Ibadan at about 6 pm on Friday.

His assailants reportedly blocked his way near the popularly Sat Guru Maharaji Garden before abducting him.

The publication also reported that the gunmen “eliminated some policemen around the scene” before making away with Adigun.

Agbaje is a professor of Political Science and is considered one of UI’s most respected products.
