Gunmen have abducted Dr. Dan Shere, a former secretary to the Enugu State government, as well as unidentified others.
He was reportedly one of several commuters kidnapped on Thursday along the Enugu-Ugwuogo Nike-Nsukka Road.
The previous SSG in Enugu worked for the Chimaroke Nnamani administration, a former governor.
A medical doctor named Shere was traveling to Nsukka for a conference when he and other travelers were ambushed by the gunmen, VAM News discovered.
The shooters, according to sources, numbered around eight and fired numerous shots prior to the kidnapping.
“They fired several shots at our car, striking one of us. But our driver was able to continue. One of the attack survivors, thanking God for saving him and four other people from the same village, said in a video, “We succeeded in getting the victim to the hospital.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the kidnappers, who are thought to be Fulani herders, have raised their demand for ransom from the earlier Sunday kidnappings.
“They initially requested N2 million from one of the victims, but they have since escalated their demand to N30 million. To find out the victims’ status, they scan their phones, a source claimed.
Returning the University of Nigeria, Nsukka students who were kidnapped on Sunday are still being held captive.
