Timothy Adegoke: Adedoyin’s absence forces court to postpone case

The case involving the murder of Timothy Adegoke has been postponed until November 7 and 8, 2022, due to the absence of the first defendant.

The first defendant, Dr. Rahman Adedoyin, was noticeably absent at the resumption of the hearing today, October 25, 2022, citing illness as his excuse.

According to the Prosecuting Counsel,
Adedoyin’s absence in Court today would not allow the case to continue.

“Attendance of the suspects is sacrosanct to the case”, he said.

“It is painful that despite the Court’s magnanimity the case is still like this.”

The Defence Counsel said,
“The first defendant is sick hence his absence in court today.”

The judge, who appeared upset by the drawn-out proceedings, stated that she was prepared to issue her 74-page judgement today but was unable to do so due to the defendant’s absence.

The judge warned that if the pattern continued, she might be forced to assign the case to another judge or grant the suspect bail.

“I may have to transfer the case to another Judge. Despite my stating the case would last no longer than six months when the case resumed here. The first defendant has to be here.

At a time, I have to travel from the USA for this case, only for it to be adjourned.”

The Judge went further that she was ready to deliver judgement after the next two sittings and that she would not accept or entertain any excuse from both parties again.

Rahman Adedoyin was charged along with six of his staff at the Hilton Hotels Honours, Ile-Ife, Osun State for the alleged murder of
Timothy Adegoke, an MBA-Executive student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in November 2021.
