Aisha Yesufu Under Fire Over Tweet Demanding Obi’s Plan On Police Brutality

Aisha Yesufu, activist and founder of Citizens Hub, has come under fire for saying that Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), must state how he would tackle police brutality.

Yesufu, who is a supporter of Obi, had quoted a tweet of Rinu Oduala, another activist, who asked what the LP’s candidate plan is to tackle the menace.

In October 2020, youths across the country protested against police brutality for about two weeks under the #EndSARS movement.

Following the protests, the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) had been disbanded.

States had also been asked to set up judicial panels of inquiry to probe cases of police brutality across the country.

In the tweet on Saturday, Yesufu had said the LP presidential candidate “must” provide his solutions to police brutality.

“Peter Obi MUST provide the answer on how he is going to tackle police brutality. No ifs or buts about it!,” Yesufu tweeted.

But her tweet has been greeted with criticism.
