Truck reportedly crushes pregnant woman, minor to death in Ogun

Tragedy struck on Friday when a pregnant and a minor were crushed to death by a truck along the Abeokuta-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State.

Our correspondent gathered that the truck laden with cement lost control and rammed into a building killing two and injuring four other occupants of the building.

The accident involved a DAF Truck with registration number, BDJ 112 XF.

Ā 

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident to journalists in Abeokuta.

Akinbiyi disclosed that the truck was traveling to Ibadan from Ewekoro when the driver lost control and rammed into the building.

Akinbiyi attributed the cause of the accident to speeding leading to loss of control which made the truck driver ram into the building.

He said a team of police officers was deployed to the scene of the incident to prevent youths who were angered by the accident from causing chaos.

Akinbiyi disclosed that the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the Odeda General Hospital.

Ā 

He said, ā€œCorpses of the pregnant woman and minor, male have been deposited at Odeda General Hospital mogue while the remaining accident victims rescued to Ajitola Hospital At Kila, for medical treatment.

ā€œThere was a deployment of more policemen (PATROL TEAM) to calm the situation because of the angry villagers.

ā€œThis (accident) is a sad and unfortunate incident coming against the backdrop of reported crashes that happened back to back for the past three days across the state.

ā€œThe dead victims in this unfortunate incidence were all occupants of the building, living and domiciled therein.

Ā 

ā€œWhile TRACE commiserates with the family of the deceased, articulated drivers are enjoined to avoid speeding and also ensure they maintain as well as service their vehicles as at when due to avoid this avoidable crashesā€. CONTINUE READING……………
