Hon. Abiye Ademoyegun, a Lawyer has joined the race to represent Akoko North East/North West region under the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP. Following her declaration, thousands of women from opposite parties joined her party to support her ambition.
The brief profile of Abiye shows that she originated from Iboropa, Akoko, Ondo state. A thorough fact check also made it known that her political career emanated from the grassroots.
Despite the record that women have not been allowed to represent the region in political elective positions, the NNPP candidate, Abiye has, however, make her way to break a long-term record in the federal Constituency.
According to her, “women has been ignored over years irrespective of our contributions in all the political parties and been the highest voters but this is the time to eradicate long time suffering.”
Part of her manifestoes, is to eradicate the suffering of the women in her constituency and promised to reshape the welfare of the women and children from the region.
As a lawyer and the constituency representative Candidate, Abiye believed in justice and insist on rotational arrangement between the two local government which has been in existence since the inception of democracy because no zone did it twice.
Asking Abiye if she is aware of the incumbent who has clinched the primary ticket under the ruling party. The lawyer said that she is fully aware and refer to the word of Asiwaju Tinubu that “AKOKO NORTH EAST ,OBIRIN LOKAN, ABIYE LOKAN.”
However, her interest in representing her constituency has attracted women endorsement as many women decamped their party and drum support for her.
Meanwhile, Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, is the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP ahead of 2023 general election.
