There was a panic in the ancient town at Ikare Akoko of Ondo state as a female student of Mount Carmel Girls School was swept away by flood.
According to report, the student was swept away on Tuesday afternoon, by the flood around river Dada in Semusemu area of the town.
The flooding was occasioned by heavy rain.
Report had it that the girl was about playing with erosion when she puts her legs in it and she was carried away.
Confirming the unfortunate incident the divisional police officer DPO Ikare Akoko superintendent of police, SP Olatujoye Akinwande disclosed that the School Principal Mrs Ajoke Asiwaju reported the case to the division while search and rescue operation has commenced.
The DPO urged parents to caution children against playing while it rains.
