The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council congratulated the Ekiti State Governor-Elect Hon. Biodun Oyebanji over his victory at the just-concluded poll.
The chairman of the council, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela, and the secretary, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, issued a statement in Ado Ekiti confirming this.
The council affirms that the Ekiti people’s choice of Hon. Oyebanji was well-considered because he understands governance and the Ekiti terrain as a part of its creation.
“We rejoice with Ekiti Governor-Elect Hon. Oyebanji and hope to God to provide him wisdom and understanding to accomplish great feats,” the statement adds.
The Governor-Elect must use the three months transition period to quickly work out some low-hanging fruits that would be the gains of EKITI in his 100 days in office.
“At NUJ we are ever ready as always to partner with you in the EKITI project.
According to the Ekiti NUJ, Hon. Oyebanji should be magnanimous in victory, while other contestants should embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and join hands with the Governor-Elect to build a better Ekiti.
The council acknowledged INEC’s significant improvement in election management, encouraging the commission to address the minor errors that occurred during the 2023 election.
“We also commend security agents and our colleagues for bringing professionalism to bear during the election,” the statement said.
