Breaking: Rochas Okorocha Arrested

Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested by security operatives attached to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in his Abuja residence.

According to Daily Trust, the former Imo State governor was brought out of his residence at about 6:47 pm.

VAM News had earlier reported that EFCC surrounded the federal lawmaker’s Abuja residence.

Several gunshots and tear gas canisters were fired to disperse angry supporters of the lawmaker before he was finally arrested.

The operatives had earlier vowed not to leave the premises of the Senator until he was arrested.

The aforementioned publication reported that an EFCC official said that Okorocha will be taken to the headquarters of the commission where he will be until May 30 when he will be arraigned in court.
