RCCG Liberation Cathedral Osun 10 YAYA Brothers Forum has organized a 3-day seminar and retreat for the youths, which was conducted on Cyberspace from 19th, 26th and 27th of May, 2022.
Amid the program, a vital topic “dress sense” was well explained to educate every youth. This was chosen for the enlightenment of the young people about how their dressings or appearances is reflecting the light of God into the world.
The speaker of the session, Brother Popoola Ademola who addressed the topic and gave a simple definition of dressing.
According to him, “dressing is appropriateness in choosing the right dress for edification and glory sake.”
“Every Christian is an image of God. We have to let the light of God shines through our dressings. We must not see our dressing as ordinary because the appearances we posed represent who we are and through that many people could be saved.”
He, however, added that every Christian is a soul transformer and transporter.
“Transformer means reforming or changing of people’s lives while transporter is the transportation of people into God’s family and the kingdom of God. So, we’re soul transformers and transporter.
He continued by comparing Christians to a king. He stated that Christians should always show up as a king because they are the dominator of the world.
“A king who dominated a community is recognized by his appearance. Hence, every Christian is the dominator of the world. As Christian, we must always display our superiority and the glory of God through our dressing.
“What is the dress?”
“Dress is apparel to cover our skin and nakedness (nakedness in the sense of dirt, dispersal, reproach disgraceful, indignity, dishonesty(opposite of integrity)”.
“A dignity man is a man with good dress/apparel that covers his shame and low self-esteem”
“and those members of the body which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable” 1 Corinthians 12:23.
Christians are to be an example to their children and be morally flexible, he further explained.
“Every Christian must be a mirror to their children. We must reflect reputable appearances to be emulated by children always.
“Flexibility in dressing is also essential and it is achieved by understanding your environment, weather, etc. We should dress official and doctrinally to the church and the place of work. We must always be the light through our dressing.”
“Dress sense shouldn’t be disrupted irrespective of life challenges.”
While taking the teaching into conclusion. He listed out a few things a Christian must do and not do
Things a man should avoid;
1. Idleness: Christians must not be idle to take care of appearances. No Christian should be negligent to their appearances.
How’s your look affecting your future, career, academics, and Christianity?
2. Don’t go on trendy: We don’t need to conform to every trendy ware of the world. We need to start showing the grace of God. Our dress determines people’s people perspectives about us.
What a Christian should do?
Neatness: Neatness in the aspect of iron of cloth, washing of underwear, picking of color, making use of perfume (cologne). Neatness must showcase Christ.
