Osun Guber 2022: Akin Ogunbiyi Clears Air On His Political Party, To Declare Emergency On Education Sector

Osun 2022: Akin Ogunbiyi To Declare Emergency On Education Sector

Ahead of July 16th, 2022 governorship election in Osun state, the Candidate of the Accord, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi has cleared air on his new Political Party.

“Authoritatively the name of the party I will be contesting for Osun state governorship race 2022 is “Accord” and not Accord party, Ogunbiyi stated.

The Accord candidate made this statement on Wednesday while featuring as guest in this month 30th edition of “The Frontliners”, organized by the Association of Veteran Journalists, Osun State chapter, held in Osun state council NUJ Secretariat, Osogbo.

He also said he would declare a State of Emergency on education sector… if elected as Osun governor

Ogunbiyi added that he will appoint two Commissioners, one for the Primary Education and the other for the Tertiary Institutions.

“To provide simple infrastructures for schools and compulsory free Primary Education. Education needs to be restored. The best you can give to our pupils is education, I am going to provide compulsory Free Primary Education.”

“Transparency will be the bedrock of my administration and we shall reflate the economy to make sure we pay the pensioners,” he said

Ogunbiyi also cleared the air on his relationship with the 2023 Nigeria presidential Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress(APC), revealed that he has never sat one-on-one with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his life.

The Governorship Candidate, Ogunbiyi further said political opponents in his former party, the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) were behind the insinuation that he was planted by Tinubu as mole within the party.

“I’m Akinade Ogunbiyi. I have never sat one-on-one with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in my life. I respect him for what he has done for Yoruba race but I can’t be his mole at any party. I’m a man of my own. It’s those in my former party, PDP that instigated that to weaken me.”

Speaking on his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ogunbiyi accused the leadership of the PDP of not having interest of Osun state at hearts but are only after “their pockets”.

Ogunbiyi said, “we had known that Uche Secondus would go. But when he finally left, Iyorcha Ayu became worse. The day I met Ayu. He told that he has no interest in Osun matter and not ready to listen to anyone. That’s when I decided to leave the party.”

He also called on Osun to vote someone who has what it takes to boost the State’s economy, stating that he will be the first person to present a trillion naira budget.
