The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Idrisu Dauda, on Wednesday, presented N18million cheques to families/next-of-kin of police officers who died in active service.
The CP did the presentation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba. The presentation was part of the IGP’s Family Welfare Insurance Scheme being given to families of deceased police officers.
The programme, which took place at the Command Headquarters, Katsina, witnessed the presentation of various cheques containing different amounts of money to families of 20 deceased police officers who died in active service.
The CP, while presenting the cheques, appreciated the efforts of the IGP for improving the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.
Maryam Sabo, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the IGP for the initiative. She assured that the welfare package would be judiciously used.
The Katsina Police Command had paraded 18 suspects at its headquarters in Katsina, among whom was a man alleged to be supplying vehicles to terrorists, Ibrahim Abdulrasheed of Unguwar Mai Darasu, from the Dan Musa Local Government Area of the state. He was also alleged to be an informant to terrorists.
