Day 50 Of Strike: ASUU Challenges FG, Threatens To Expose Nigerians ‘Behind IPPIS Impasse’

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has challenged the federal government to subject the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) to the integrity test.

This is just as the ASUU’s strike enters its 50th day on Tuesday (today).

ASUU, which has been on strike since February 15, is demanding the replacement of IPPIS with the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) for salary payment in the university system.

The unions are currently on strike over failure by the Federal Government to honour the various agreements reached with them.

He expressed worry that despite subjecting UTAS to the integrity test twice, the Nigerian Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), which scored the software over 90 per cent, misled the public that UTAS failed the tests.

He challenged NITDA to subject IPPIS to the same integrity test, warning that if the agency failed to heed their call, ASUU would be left with no option but to expose the politicians behind IPPIS, who are feeding on it.

Abubakar, therefore, called on well-meaning Nigerians to call the Ministry of Communications and NITDA to order.

“They should be patriotic and ethical in their conduct by adhering to the reports on the UTAS integrity tests in the interest of ending the current strike,” he added. CONTINUE READING…
