Police operatives in Rivers have arrested one Steve Green, a member of a robbery syndicate which specialises in dispossessing drivers of their tricycles and one Adaugo Darlington,a woman who usually disguised to be pregnant who they have been using as bait for their activities.

Darlington usually pretends to be pregnant to attract sympathy, while posing as a passenger alongside members of the robbery gang.

However, after boarding the tricycle, members of the robbery gang will use knives and machetes to attack the drivers and push him down while still in motion before going away with the tricycles.

They usually carried out their activities when the tricycle gets to isolated areas.

However, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko,the Acting Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, in a statement on Sunday said the
the syndicate however ran out of luck on 31st March 2022, along Rumunduru-Eneka in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to her, police operatives of Eneka Division, while on routine patrol, got to the scene where their last victim, one Lasisi Akreem who was dispossessed of his tricycle was writhing in pains with machete cuts inflicted on him.

But the injured tricycle driver was able to describe his tricycle and the suspects.

Policemen then went after the suspects and were able to arrest two of them while the tricycle was recovered.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment while efforts are on to nab the two others who escaped, Iringe-Koko said.
