OSPOLY Iree Suspends Warning Strike

Following the intervention of the chairman and members of governing council of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) of the institution has suspended the two-week warning strike embarked upon.

The Union therefore directed all its members to resume work with immediate effect.

Recall that Voice Air Media had reported that the Union embarked on 14-day warning strike on Monday 14th March,2022 to press home their demands from Osun State government.

It was learnt that the intervention of the governing council Chairman Barrister Ismail Saka-Layonu (SAN) hastened the suspension of the strike.

The Union commended its members for their unalloyed supports while the strike action lasted.

According to decision extract of the union obtained by this medium, “ASUP at its congress on Friday, 18th March, 2022, members of our great Union resolved that as a result of the productive intervention of the Chairman and members of Governing Council of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and also to allow the debarred negotiation on our Union’s demands to continue, the Congress of our Union, has unanimously resolved to suspend the on-going strike.

“Therefore, the suspension of the strike hinges on the promises of the Governing Council to intercede in pressing home our demands from the Government of the State of Osun,” the statement added. CONTINUE READING….
