The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, chapter on Monday declared a two-week warning strike over issues relating to salaries.
The union made this known following a congress by the members of the Union. They said the strike is aimed at pressing their demands from State government.
It would be recalled the Union had been given Governor Gboyega Oyetola a seven days ultimatum on February 4th to address their demands
The Union demanded for the Implementation of Full Salary Table for Tertiary Institutions.; 65 Years Retirement Age.; the Year 2019, 2020, and 2021 Promotion Exercise.
Payment of 29 Months Half-Salary Arrears and Monthly Deduction of May and June 2019, March, April and May 2020, Contributory Pension Scheme.
In a statement signed by the chairman of the Union Dr. Fatai Afolabi.
According to the statement, The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has been mandated by the Congress to pursue the domestication of Polytechnic Act.
“The Union has commenced two weeks warning strike starting from Monday, 14th March, 2022 after which the seriousness on the part of Government of Osun State will be re-evaluated.
“The executives of the Union will pursue the payment of halves of our 20 months peculiar allowance since Government of State of Osun is owning us halves of our salaries during the time this unpaid allowance was owed.
Therefore, payment of halves of the peculiar allowance owed by our Management should be vigorously pursued.” The statement added. CONTINUE READING…
