Osun 2022 Guber race: Uncertainty as PDP holds parallel primaries

There was heavy security presence in Osogbo, especially at Osogbo City Stadium and WOCDIF centre on Tuesday as the Osun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as two factions are set to conduct parallel governorship primaries.

The PDP is conducting the party’s primary to elect its candidate for the 2022 governorship election.

Voice Air Media gathered that the party is having a parallel primaries.

As at press time, the part of the party who belong to the Adeleke camp, is currently holding Primary at Osogbo city stadium while those who are the other side of Dotun Babayemi’s camp have gathered at WOCDIF centre to decide who will represent the party as candidate comes July 16th.

Leaders of the party who are already on ground at Babayemi’s camp are; Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola – former governor, Erelu Olusola Obada – former deputy governor, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, Chief Olu Alabi, Chief Tajudeen Oladipo, among others.

Those present at Adeleke’s camp are; Chief Ajeigbe, Prof. Wale Oladipo, Hon. Bunmi Jenyo, Hon. Clement Akanni, Alh. Gani Olaoluwa etc.

Recalled that The Elders Caucus of the PDP on Monday evening endorse Babayemi after Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Dele Adeleke, Mr Sanya Ominrin and Fatai Akinbade have withdrawn from the race.

2018 governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ademola Adeleke is coming up against Prince Dotun Babayemi for the ticket.
