Liverpool goalkeeper Kelleher scored the final penalty, ensuring victory as opposite number Kepa, who was brought in towards the end of the goalless 120 minutes of extra time – specifically for the penalty shootout – missed the decisive kick.
The match had ended barren after Matip’s header for Liverpool was disallowed by VAR after Van Dijk offside, before Havertz goal for Chelsea was also ruled out.
Lukaku and Havertz also had goals ruled out for offside in extra time.
