2022: Uzodimma presents N381bn budget

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State presented a N381 billion budget to the state House of Assembly for approval on Friday.

Uzodimma presented the budget, dubbed “budget of wealth consolidation and recovery,” which consisted of N96 billion in recurrent expenditure and N284 billion in capital expenditure.

The governor stated that the budget’s goal was to meet the people’s needs by promoting long-term economic development in the state.

He went on to say that it was also aimed at putting the people’s well-being at the forefront of governance by undergoing massive infrastructure reconstruction.

This would be accomplished, according to Uzodinma, by implementing participatory governance through an open budget process, human capital development, and grassroots development, among other things.

Meanwhile, the governor commended the House for its solidarity with his administration and pledged to vigorously pursue the implementation of policies, programmes and projects captured in the budget.

Mr Kennedy Ibeh, the Speaker of the House, assured that the budget would be passed in good time to enable Uzodinma to continue his good works in 2022.

Ibeh expressed confidence that the budget would address the aspirations of the people by providing infrastructure across the state.

In addition, he commended the governor for the recovery of government property as well as those of the people that were illegally acquired by the past administration.

Deputy Speaker Amarachi Iwuanyanwu expressed confidence in the ability of the governor to steer the state to a better future.

Iwuanyanwu promised a seamless and quick consideration and passage of the budget while pledging total support of the house to the governor’s efforts towards developing the state.
