How Popular Catholic Priest Was Kidnapped In Abia

Rev Fr Godfrey Mark Chimezie, a Catholic priest from St Theresa Catholic Church in Umuahia, Abia State, has been kidnapped.

The Catholic priest, who had just finished a morning mass at St Gabriel, Okpururie, Afaraukwu, was abducted along Enyiukwu Road Ohokobe Afaraukwu village, Ibeku in Abia State’s Umuahia North LGA.

Reverend Fr Godfrey Mark Chimezie was allegedly forced out of his Toyota Corolla and into an SUV driven by the kidnappers, who then sped away. Earlier this year, the Enugu-born clergyman was ordained as a priest.

In another report, a police patrol team was on Tuesday attacked by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen along Kolo-Ogbia road in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that the attack, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when the assailants invaded the community, triggered tension in the area.
