DSP Sabo Umar, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Musawa police station in Katsina State, has been confirmed dead in an auto crash.
It was made known by the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, on Thursday.
It was gathered that the late DPO was returning to Musawa from Katsina when he had the accident on Wednesday.
According to the police spokesperson, Umar was returning to Musawa from Katsina after attending a meeting with the state police commissioner and other security agencies.
Isah said, “The late DPO was here with other district officers of the civil defense, the DSS and other security agents to perfect operational plans with regard to the new security measures put in place by Katsina state government, with the Commissioner of Police, CP Sanusi Buba, as the chairman of the implementation committee.
“After the meeting, the DPO on his way back to Musawa, just 10 kilometres away, in Matazu local government, he had a head-on collision with a truck and that is where he lost his life,” the police spokesman disclosed.
He further noted that the remains of the late DPO had been deposited at the General Hospital, Katsina, before conveyance to his hometown in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State for burial.
