Barcelona Signs New Contract Agreement With Lionel Messi

Barcelona has reached an agreement in principle with captain Lionel Messi for the renewal of a new contract.

Diario Sport reports that the agreement between Barcelona and Messi includes a five-year contract.

Messi also agreed to cut his salary by 50% in the new deal.

The report added that money was never a problem in the negotiation, adding that it was the issue of taxation, a fragile matter because neither party wants to take the wrong step.

The Argentina captain accepted the conditions that Barcelona has imposed because he understands that the economic situation of the Catalan club is very complicated and he must be the first to set an example.

The announcement of Messi’s new contract with Barcelona is scheduled to take place at the end of July.

Messi’s previous contract with Barcelona expired on June 30, 2021.
