Nigerian star Paul Onuachu seems to have written his name in gold in the hearts of Genk and their supporters following the blistering performances he displayed during the 2020-21 season.
The 26-year-old ended up scoring 35 goals and five assists in 41 appearances across competitions for the Blue-White thereby leading him to win two Belgian league awards.
Onuachu was named the Jupiler Pro League footballer of the year award and also picked up the Golden Shoe prize after a festival of goals for the Cristal Arena outfit.
The tall attacker also helped coach John van den Brom’s men win their only cup of the season after lifting the Belgian Cup following a 2-1 win against Standard Liege.
Though he was not on the scores sheet for the game, he, however, provided an assist for the winning goal in the 85th minute.
Excited Genk while celebrating the Nigerian star posted on their official Twitter handle saying: “Congratulations Paul! As a club, we are of course very proud of this election of Paul.
He is already a legend of KRC Genk.” Onuachu’s brilliance didn’t stop at his club as he scored twice in back-to-back games for Nigeria during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho earlier this year.
