Just In: Angry Mob Ambush EFCC Men In Osogbo

Residents and motorists in some parts of Osogbo, Osun State capital, had to run for their dear lives as some suspected internet fraudsters also known as Yahoo Yahoo boys embark on a violent protest against operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday morning.

 

VAM news gathered that the protesters who are youths stormed the Lameco area of Osogbo, singing solidarity songs against the EFCC as they wave placards like; Say No To EFCC.

It was gathered the EFCC operatives sneaker in the state capital to arrest suspected fraudsters but were waylaid on their way out after arresting some suspects and seized about 20 exotic cars.

 

The operatives, it was gathered had to run into safety to avoid being mobbed by the angry youths, who set bonfire at Lameco junction in the state capital.

 

Confirming the incident, Osun police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola said they have been trying to control the situation from further escalation.

“We are aware of the situation, we are now trying to appease the protesters and clear the bonfire so that people can go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment”, she said.

 

The youths who have occupied the major road in the area are reportedly violent as security operatives move in to ease the tension.
